The focus of this conference is on the applications of transparent and all-optical technologies in telecommunications, computing and novel applications. During its first day, Sunday 23rd, there will be a symposium on "How to create a photonic SME", with invited talks by successful entrepreneurs in the optics sector like Milton Chang (former president/CEO of Newport Corporation and New Focus), Laurent Malier (CEO CEA Leti) and many others. The event will provide the latest information on the new European Framework Programme Horizon2020 and the further development towards a Photonics Public Private Partnership. Another major highlight will be the publication of the photonics strategic roadmap which has been worked out by the European photonics community. At the same time, the European Photonics Industry Consortium (EPIC) general assembly will also take place on the 29th April in Brussels.
